EMD SW-9

The EMD SW-9 was the 1200 horsepower replacement for the nearly identical SW-7. Conrail intermixed them with the SW-7's in the numbering scheme.  Conrail's SW-9's were built from 1951 though 1953.  Conrail inherited its 132 SW-9's from Penn Central(95; 55 PRR, 40 NYC), Erie Lackawanna (17; Erie 7, DL&W 10), Jersey Central (11), and Lehigh Valley (9).
