EMD NW-2

The EMD NW-2 was a heavy switcher with a 1000 horsepower 567 series engine.  Production of these units ended in 1949.  Conrail inherited its fleet of  98 NW-2's from the Penn Central (58; 15 PRR, 30 NYC, 13 NYC - NYO&W), Erie Lackawanna (31; 26 Erie, 5 DL&W), Lehigh Valley (6), Jersey Central (2), and Peoria & Eastern (1).  The last of these units was retired in 1986.
