25 4000 horsepower GE C40-8's were purchased by
Conrail in 1989. These units are mechanically identical to their
far more numerous C40-8W sisters. These units are the last
"standard" cab units ordered by Conrail.
C40-8 and an LMS C40-8W work a train
at the east end of Allentown Yard, September 1996
C40-8 6045 is being moved by the Enola
shop goat (SW1001 9614) into the shop for maintenance.
April 10, 1998
C40-8's 6042 6029 lead a westbound just
west of Jim Thorpe, Pa. on the former Lehigh Valley in
Febrary, 1991.
