General Electric C30-7A

General Electric's C30-7A model is unique to Conrail.  The 50 3000 horse power units were delivered in 1984.  Internally, these locomotive differ greatly from their older C30-7 brothers, being powered by the new FDL series diesel engine.  These units have spent their lives mostly in New England, working out of Selkirk Yard in Albany, New York.

C30-7A's 6570 and  6567 leave Allentown Yard with a westbound  train  on July 13, 1984.   I took  this photo standing on  the remains of the eastbound hump, which was removed in the late 1970's.  R tower is visible behind the lead unit.
