How Do Political Parties Lose Their Foundations?
No political party, or any organization of merit, can be all things to all people. Once an organization strays from even one defining principle of its platform, religion/faith, holy book, etc., it ceases to exist.
I used to promote the Constitution Party, which still "claims" allegiance to "our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States." However, I can no longer promote this organization because, although it has not changed the text of its platform to reflect its actions, it now condones abortion and, by its selection of leaders, accepts, condones, and promotes the false belief that Jesus Christ and Satan are brothers; that after Jesus Christ grew to manhood, he took at least three wives: Mary, Martha, and Mary Magdalene; and that man, after death, can become a god to rule over multiple planets and have celestial sex with multiple wives for all eternity.
