The Da Vinci Code - Fact or Fiction?
The BIG LIE
On page 1 of The Da Vinci Code,
under the heading, "FACT," author Dan Brown writes that "The Priory of Sion," a
European secret society founded in 1099, is supposedly a real organization that
covers up a scandal of a non-divine human-only Jesus who was married to Mary
Magdalene, and that in 1975, Paris's Bibliothèque Nationale discovered
parchments known as "Les Dossiers Secrets," which supposedly identifies numerous
members of the Priory of Sion, including Sir Isaac Newton and Leonardo da Vinci,
and provides the proof for the Da Vinci Code book and movie.
"The Last Word; The Da Vinci Con (PDF)," written by Laura Miller for the New York Times, as well as many historical studies found below and a 1996 BBC documentary prove that first, the "Les Dossiers Secrets" were created and planted in Paris's Bibliothèque Nationale by forger Pierre Plantard, who had a criminal record for fraud, whose associate, in the 1970's, admitted to helping Plantard fabricate all of the materials, and second, the actual Priory of Sion was formed and officially registered in 1956 in France by a tiny harmless social group of Plantard's like-minded friends.
Did Christian Roman Emperor, Constantine, Commission and Finance a New Bible???
The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown wrote that the first Christian Roman Emperor, Constantine, "commissioned and financed a new Bible, which omitted those gospels that spoke of Christ's human traits and embellished those gospels that made him godlike," which is a complete lie and reversal of the truth, since the canon of the New Testament comprises the historically-accurate gospels that were written during the lifetimes of those who personally witnessed the life and works of Jesus Christ (Mark in the 70s, Matthew and Luke in the 80s, John in the 90s), while the "omitted" gospels of which Brown writes were written over 200 years after the life of Jesus Christ and contain volumes of distortion and fanciful aberrations.
Eusebius of Caesarea, the Christian historian who detailed the first three centuries of Christianity, provides abundant evidence that the canon was well established before the time of Constantine. See Eusebius, "Church History," 3.3-4, 24-25;5.8; 6.14, 25. If Constantine had had any role whatever in collating or deciding on the canon, Eusebius would have been the first to report that, since he greatly admired the first Christian emperor.

The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction?:
People
are talking. The New York Times best-seller, The Da Vinci Code, is now a major

of Dan Brown, while others are left utterly confused and don’t know what to
believe.
The updated edition of The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction? explodes the myths of the book and shows the reliability of Scripture, the divinity of Christ, as well as the historical facts for the Priory of Sion and the Knights Templar. This book by Hank Hanegraaff and Paul Maier is the only hands-on accessible reference guide. Da Vinci Refuted: Spanish Apostolics fight back.
As the movie The Da Vinci Code comes out on DVD we continue with our Apostolic response.
We are sending our Spanish book "Desenmascarando El Código Da Vinci" [Unmasking the Da Vinci Code] to everyone that asks for it. We have created a digital version (Acrobat PDF with multimedia enhancements) and are asking everyone to share it with anyone they might think is interested in it (and understands Spanish).
We wrote the book thinking beyond the current controversy to be a defense of the deity of Christ and the trustworthiness of the Bible. We even have a short appendix on the newest gnostic release, "The Gospel of Judas."
If they need anymore information, please direct them to our Spanish blog site: http://defensoresdelafe.blogspot.com.

"The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel
Find this at any Christian bookstore.
In his best-seller "The Case for Christ", the legally trained investigative reporter Lee Strobel examined the claims of Christ, turning in the hard-won yet satisfying verdict that Jesus is the Son of God. Yet despite this historical evidence, many grapple with doubts and serious concerns about faith in God. As in a court of law, they want to shout, "Objection!"
In "The Case for Faith" Strobel confronts some of the most difficult objections to belief. He draws on questions he had when he was a skeptic, on the objections currently being raised by the most outspoken opponents of Christianity, and on the most troublesome barriers to faith in the hearts and minds of seekers and skeptics.
This incredible book addresses the following statements often given by doubters of Christianity:
"Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot."
"Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true."
"Evolution explains life, so God isn't needed."
"God isn't worthy of worship if he kills innocent children."
"It's offensive to claim that Jesus is the only way to God."
"A loving God would never torture people in Hell."
"Church history is riddled with oppression and violence."
"I still have doubts, so I can't be a Christian."
Like "The Case for Christ", Strobel's new book can be given with confidence to anyone we encounter who has sincere and serious concerns about faith.
