Erich, It went well. I got the impression I was the sole representative of Christ there, except a woman who said "amen" when I read my first poem. Christal G. went for moral support and she was very encouraging. I don't know if I made anyone think but I do want to do that again. It was exciting to know I was making a stand! These are the ones I read: **Convicted** (this was to get their attention) I stood alone on death row Convicted of my crime, Guilty of more than I knew And almost out of time. My cellmate there was evil, Though once he was my friend, Standing there accusing me Of what I can't defend. My jailer led me down the hall To my electric chair. How surprised I was to find That Someone else was there! He looked into my anguished eyes, Compassion on His face, And then assured my pardon By dying in my place. Overcome with gratitude And wonder, I was free. I want to give myself to Him As He has done for me. and One Word, with the verse that goes with it: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 **One Word** One word it took to bring me down, One careless, thoughtless one My self esteem sank through the floor Emotions came undone One word they said, that's all it took, One well-placed hateful word, Though many other words were said, That one was all I heard One word can have such power, it seems, But they would not have cared How humble would it make them feel Had I but these words shared - One word brought sunlight out of dark And out of oceans, land One set the universe in place, One powerful command. One word made fish and birds and beasts To live upon this earth One Word came down to die for me And show me what I'm worth. Though other words may bring me down They will not interfere God's Word speaks love and peace and truth, The words I choose to hear. ***** IQ* Note: Glenda's book will be ready in a couple of months. This would be the first time in U.S. history that women; wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters; would be forced into a military draft. Federal Congressman Ron Paul's statement is true: "Philosophically, conscription is not something that a free society, in our view, ought to abide, because it forces a person to go somewhere against their will. And, in the event that the U.S. were ever attacked, a draft wouldn't be an issue because Americans' sense of duty would cause millions to volunteer." Text to Copy/Edit Military Draft Is Unconstitutional (13th Amendment) Dear According to Lewis Brodsky, acting director of the Selective Service System, as quoted by Newhouse News Service, the Pentagon will draft experienced medical personnel, including medics, nurses and physicians, and is considering other "special skills" drafts, to include linguists, computer experts, and engineers. This would be the first time in U.S. history that women; wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters; would be forced into a military draft. Our country's involvement in United Nations' unconstitutional "peacekeeping" wars, which have not been initiated through any official Constitutional Declaration of War, is killing our men and women and shrinking our military numbers, which is the real reason for why a new draft is being proposed; not to build a force for a domestic war, but to feed our men and women to the United Nations war machine - a non-elected world governing body that is in direct violation of our United States Constitution. Vietnam and Korea are still communist threats, and our men and women are still being killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and soon, Liberia. Federal Congressman Ron Paul's statement is true: "Philosophically, conscription is not something that a free society, in our view, ought to abide, because it forces a person to go somewhere against their will. And, in the event that the U.S. were ever attacked, a draft wouldn't be an issue because Americans' sense of duty would cause millions to volunteer." Millions of us, American civilians, gave our blood, time, professional expertise, and lives to assist after 9-11, without being forced by a military draft. Military drafts are enslavement, they are involuntary servitude, a violation of Section 1 of the 13th Amendment of our United States Constitution, which states, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." I implore you to fulfill your Oath of Office in upholding and defending the 13th Amendment to our United States Constitution, debate against this new draft, and work with Congressional Representative Ron Paul of Texas to create a Constitutional Solution, as in H.R. 1597 of 2001. Please write to me with your plan of action for this issue in Washington, D.C. Sincerely, ==================== ==================== (4) Letter to State Reps. Drawer 2440 Tupelo, MS 38801 URL: http://www.agapepress.org 'PAMPERED CHEFS' HELP END DIRECT ABORTION FUNDING New owners of national kitchenware company, The Pampered Chef, have opted to end their practice of giving money to fund the abortion industry after many Pampered Chef sales representatives quit their jobs in protest. More details: http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/8/132003e.asp ...Delegates to a national lawyers conference have learned of the growing evidence of a link between abortion and breast cancer. The lawyers heard medical researchers talk about the connection between high levels of estrogen and the development of breast cancer. The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer says the information is critical to the debate. They point out that women are exposed to more estrogen during normal pregnancies than at any other time in their lives. The effect is only corrected in the third trimester of pregnancy, when breasts are matured into cancer resistant tissue. Abortion prevents that maturation. The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer is an international women's organization founded to protect the health and save the lives of women by working to educate the public and provide information on abortion as a breast cancer risk factor. The Coalition's Jeanette Joyce claims the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) have covered up the connection because of the political implications. Earlier this year at an NCI-sponsored workshop called "Early Reproductive Events and Breast Cancer," scientists announced that there is no association between abortion and the risk of breast cancer, and that their own findings to the contrary were flawed. Illogically, scientists at the workshop also announced that full-term pregnancy reduces risk. A dissenting opinion was expressed by endocrinologist Joel Brind, president of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute, who maintained that scientific evidence does support a causal relationship between abortion and breast cancer. ...Scripture promises divine blessings on believers who tithe, or give 10% of their incomes to God's work -- but for some ministers, it may be time to preach a message called "The Sermon on the Amount." A Barna Research Group survey suggests that only 3% of American households tithe to their church -- a sharp decline from 2001. And younger Christians appear to be less faithful contributors than older ones. Mormons, though, are required to contribute 10% to qualify for admission to their faith's most sacred rites in temples. And for Muslims, one of the five mandatory "pillars" of Islam is the charity tax, usually calculated as two-and-a-half percent of net worth, given to support religious purposes and the needy. ==================== ==================== (7) IQ* Prayer Request Please pray that the ISP used by this ministry fixes the technical difficulties making it impossible to update the InfoQuest* for Truth website.
