X2: X-MEN UNITED
Dear Friend,
In today's edition of InfoQuest*, we'll see how Hollywood, once again, is pushing the fall-on-its-face theory of evolution; this time, through the X-Men 2 movie. We'll also see how the United Nations is mandating evolution as religion (text for letter to U.S. representatives follows this section of IQ*).

(1) X-Men 2 and the Evolution Lie
Dear Friend,
My wife and I saw the movie, X-Men 2. It's a great action movie (not recommended for children because of the violence), but, at the very end, it blatantly plugs a propaganda promotion for one of the newest spins on the theory of evolution.
I was pleased through most of the movie because there was no blatant promotion of evolution. The "mutants" were portrayed as people who were born with genetic differences from other humans, which gave them their unique characteristics. In a fiction fantasy frame-of-mind, you could see this as either "evolution" or a further break-down of our DNA, resulting in great abnormalities, in this case, strange abilities seen by some as advantages. Even from a Biblical perspective, we know that, since sin was introduced into the world, the human body has become more corrupted in each passing generation.
At the very end of the movie, just before the credits appear, Jean Grey's voice is heard saying (since I didn't have pen & paper, I remember the crux of her quote, and I found a similar quote on a web page), "Every so often evolution skips a millennium or so and leaves the human race a handful of individuals with varied and superior power." This quote represents the theory of evolution's latest spin, called "punctuated equilibrium."
Hank Hanegraaff, President of the Christian Research Institute does a fantastic job of discrediting the folly of punctuated equilibrium in his book, "The Face That Demonstrates The Farce of Evolution."
Here's what Hank has to say about punctuated equilibrium. The following excerpt is from Hank's book.
---
The newest fairy tale produced and proliferated in the evolutionary community is a theory called punctuated equilibrium. Its genesis appears to be found in the "hopeful monster" theory of a German geneticist named Richard Goldschmidt.(25) Realizing that there was no compelling evidence for evolution in the fossil record, Goldschmidt speculated that there must have been quantum leaps from one species to another.
In his book "The Material Basis of Evolution," he sums up his sentiments as follows, "The major evolutionary advanced must have taken place in single large steps.... The many missing links in the paleontological record are sought for in vain because they have never existed: 'the first bird hatched from a reptilian egg.'"(26)
Since I am the father of eight children, Goldschmidt's hopeful monster theory should give me considerable concern. Each time my wife, Kathy, "infanticipates," I should hold down the hospital window lest when she gives birth, our new offspring tries to fly away. Obviously, this is not science; it's science fiction.(27) Tragically, however, this evolutionary fiction is being pawned off on impressionable children as though it were evolutionary fact.
In "The Wonderful Egg," a book written for children, a mother dinosaur lays an egg that hatches into the very first bird. After growing up into a very beautiful specimen replete with wings and feathers, it flies up into a tall tree and sings a happy song. The real tragedy is not that the little bird's song may well become a funeral dirge when it realizes it has no one with which to produce offspring. The real tragedy is that this book earned recommendation from the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Council on Education, and the Association for Childhood Education International.(28)
Even more tragic is the fact that Gould, one of America's most widely read evolutionists, has come to the defense of Goldschmidt's nonsensical notion. In "The Return of Hopeful Monsters" Gould recounts the "official rebuke and derision" directed at Goldschmidt by the scientific establishment. The then predicts "that during the next decade, Goldschmidt will be largely vindicated in the world of evolutionary biology.(29) Although his prediction has not come to pass, it has not stopped him from propagating a theory called punctuated equilibrium, which in reality is little more than a regurgitation of Goldschmidt's hopeful monster theory.(30)
According to Gould's theory of punctuated equilibrium, "a species does not arise gradually by the steady transformation of its ancestors; it appears all at once and 'fully formed.'"(31) As Gish explains, punctuated equilibrium proponents speculate that once a species has developed, it proliferates into a large population and persists relatively unchanged for one, two, five, or ten million years, or even longer. Then for some unknown reason, a relatively small number of the individuals of the population become isolated, and by some unknown mechanism, rapidly evolve into a new species (by rapid is meant something on the order of tens of thousands of years). Once the new species has evolved, it then either becomes rapidly extinct or proliferates into a large population. This large population then persists for one or more millions of years. The long period of stasis is the portion of the process referred to as the period of equilibrium, and the interval characterized by rapid evolution is the punctuation - thus the term, punctuated equilibrium.(32)
The problems with punctuated equilibrium should be self-evident. First, this theory is motivated by the lack of vertical transitional forms in the fossil record. Thus, it is a classic argument from silence. Furthermore, this convoluted concept flies in the face of the science of genetics. As noted by Gish, "The genetic apparatus of a lizard, for example, is devoted 100% to producing another lizard. The idea that this indescribably complex, finely tuned, highly integrated, amazingly stable genetic apparatus involving hundreds of thousands of interdependent genes could be drastically altered and rapidly reintegrated in such a way that the new organism not only survives but actually is an improvement over the preceding form is contrary to what we know about the apparatus and how it functions."(33)
Finally, as noted by Drs. Henry Morris and Gary Parker, the effects produced by "jumping genes" or chromosomal rearrangements would not produce a hopeful monster but a monstrosity. Even if, as postulated by punctuated equilibrium, the jumps do not go from reptiles to birds but from scales to feathers, the jumps are still too fantastic. Conversely, if the jumps are in reality rather insignificant, then we are right back at square one - gradualism.(34) And as noted by Gould, "The extreme rarity of transitional forms persists as the trade secret of paleontology."(35)
Creationists and Christians should be grateful for the candor of doctrinaire evolutionist Colin Patterson when he admitted: "For over 20 years I thought I was working on evolution....[But] there was not one thing I knew about it....So for the last few weeks I've tried putting a simple question to various people and groups of people. Question is: 'Can you tell me anything you know about evolution, any one thing, any one thing that is true?' I tried that question on the geology staff at the Field Museum of Natural History and the only answer that I got was silence. I tried it on the members of the Evolutionary Morphology Seminar in the University of Chicago, a very prestigious body of evolutionists, and all I got there was silence for a long time and eventually one person said, 'Yes, I do know one thing - it ought not to be taught in high school.' ...During the past few years ...you have experienced a shift from evolution as knowledge to evolution as faith.... Evolution not only conveys no knowledge, but seems somehow to convey anti-knowledge."(36)
Nowhere is this antiknowledge more readily apparent than in the fiction, fraud, and fantasy surrounding ape-men. In chapter 3 we will use the A in the acronym FACE to remind you that humans are made in the image of the Almighty, not the image of apes.

The United Nations Earth Charter crusade to paganize our children is currently one of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO's) major projects! As the Earth Charter is brought deeper into the government schools, students will not be allowed to have the Ten Commandments or the Holy Bible in class, but could soon be bowing before the pagan "Ark of Hope" [blasphemy of the "Ark of the Covenant"], reading the "sacred" Temenos Books [blasphemy of the 10 Commandments], and reverently intoning the text of the new UN Earth Charter.

## LETTER ##
Dear Friend,
Please contact your representative by email, phone, or fax and ask him/her to introduce or support an amendment to H.R. 1950 (Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 2004 and 2005) that would block the U.S. from rejoining UNESCO. Send a copy of your correspondence to your senators and urge them to oppose any legislation to rejoin UNESCO.

Dear [enter your representative's name here],
I implore you to introduce or support an amendment to H.R. 1950 (Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 2004 and 2005) that would block the U.S. from rejoining UNESCO.
Now, after a nearly two-decade absence from the organization, the Bush administration asserts that UNESCO has reformed and it is in the United States’ interest to rejoin this UN subsidiary. Has UNESCO reformed?
It is strange that in the 18 years since the United States left UNESCO, we only started reading about the beginnings of reform in the year 2000. Are we to believe that after nearly two decades of no change in UNESCO’s way of mismanaging itself things have changed so much in just two years? Is it worth spending $60 million per year on an organization with such a terrible history of waste, corruption, and anti-Americanism?
Even if UNESCO has been "reforming" its finances over the past two years, its programmatic activities are still enough to cause great concern among those of us who value American sovereignty and honor our Constitution. Consider the following as a partial list of UNESCO’s ongoing highly questionable activities:
* UNESCO meddles in the education affairs of its member-countries and has sought to construct a U.N.-based school curriculum for American schools.
* UNESCO has been fully supportive of the United Nations’ Population Fund (UNFPA) in its assistance to China’s brutal coercive population control program.
* UNESCO has designated 47 U.N. Biosphere Reserves in the United States covering more than 70 million acres, without Congressional consultation.
* UNESCO effectively bypasses Congressional authority to manage federal lands, by establishing management policies without Congressional consultation or approval.
I look forward to your written response detailing your action in this matter.
Sincerely,
[Enter your name and address here.]

(3) IQ* Solutions to the Evolution Propaganda Machine
Dear Friend,
Are you concerned with the evolution propaganda that is evident in the media, the government, the schools, and even in some religious institutions?
What's the answer? Truth. Getting to it and getting it to everyone?
I've put together a web page dedicated solely for this purpose at:
http://fp.users.fast.net/InfoQuest/creation.htm
Please reply to this e-newsletter with any resources that you think should be added to this InfoQuest* web page! Together, we can win through Christ!
If you'd like to be part of a fantastic opportunity to educate the world in the Truth of Creation, consider helping the Creation Museum project. The Creation Museum will show the world the wonders of God’s Creation and proclaim the authority and accuracy of the Bible from the very first verse (with particular emphasis on Genesis, the most-attacked book of the Bible). This ‘walk through history’ museum will be a wonderful alternative to the evolutionary natural history museums that are influencing countless minds to the detriment of the Gospel of Christ and the authority of the Scriptures.
