Dear Friend, In today's Early Edition of InfoQuest*, I'll share my report on the incredible Biblical Foundations of American Law Conference, which hosted Ten Commandments Judge Roy Moore, Ambassador Alan Keyes, President of the Institute on The Constitution and Constitution Party President Candidate Michael Peroutka, and Chairman of the Conservative Caucus Howard Phillips! I'll also share my first "unofficial" political debate, which I held with my friend John and my new friend/acquaintance Joe; Joe is presently a pro-life Republican who is considering running against a pro-abortion Republican Federal Representative. Thanks to IQ* family member Liesl for passing this info along! Now, I've Googled the web for hoax info on this, and there are some who agree and some who disagree; however, I know for a fact that if you drop a tooth into a glass of cola, by the end of the day, it will have disolved into the liquid. I had a really cool first grade teacher who used one of our "lost teeth" in this experiment! Maybe she was trying to convince us why we had milk with our grahm crackers and not cola! Note: Some are wacky - I wouldn't try cleaning your windshield with cola! Water vs. Cola WATER 1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. 4. One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzz short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. And now for the properties of COKE: 1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. 2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days. [wacky] 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China. [I tried this tonight by pouring a 2 liter bottle of coke down the drain of my slow-draining sink; I'll fill you in next week!] 4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. 5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. 6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. 7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil,and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. 8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent,and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. 9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield. For Your Info: 1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. ==================== ==================== (2) Report on Biblical Foundations of Law Conference WOW! What a priviledge, to see and hear Chief Justice Roy Moore, Ambassador Alan Keyes, Chairman of the Constitution Party Jim Clymer, Chairman of the Conservative Caucus Howard Phillips, and Founder of Institute on the Constitution and Constitution Party Presidential Candidate Michael Peroutka! The speeches were fantastic! Judge Roy Moore shared his story! The panel discussion was wonderful! Guess what? My question was presented to the panel! Guess what my question was? You know it! It was, "is family/morality law reserved for the states only, and would amending our Federal Constitution with such family/morality law, i.e., a federal marriage amendment, destroy the balance of power between the states and the federal powers, and inevitably place such family/morality law in grave jeopardy?" As you know with panels, if everyone on the panel agrees with any answer given by a panel member, the rest remain quiet. If there is disagreement or clarification required, another panel member may contribute to the answer. Well, my friend, guess what? Howard Phillips, Chairman of the Conservative Caucus, answered my question exactly as I have on our Federal Marriage Amendment Alert Page!!! Everyone on the panel, that's right, Chief Justice Roy Moore, Ambassador Alan Keyes, and Founder of Institute on the Constitution Michael Peroutka agreed! Here's some sad news, though. Today I received the Focus on the Family magazine, and in it, Dr. Dobson is asking us all to push for a federal marriage amendment! NO! It looks like Dr. Dobson totally dismised my letter to him, the reply from which I received on October 6, 2003 from Richard M. Norris, Correspondence Assistant to Dr. Dobson! Others who have ignored the IQ* federal marriage amerndment alert letters are Dr. Wildmon of the American Family Association, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, Gary Bauer of Campaign for Working Families, and others. Now, with all due respect, who knows more about the Biblical Foundations of American Law and the best way to tackle the legal marriage crisis in the U.S.A.?? Would it be the panel of experts at the Biblical Foundation of American Law Conference, who were Chief Justice Roy Moore, Ambassador Alan Keyes, Founder of the Institute on the Constitution and Constitution Party Presidential Candidate Michael Peroutka, and Chairman of the Conservative Caucus Howard Phillips, or would it be Psychiatrist Dr. Dobson, Reverend Donald Wildmon, Gary Bauer, and Tony Perkins? Capital Punishment - Biblical & Historical Grounds Forced (Legislated) Military Service vs. Voluntary Service WOW! I had no idea, that during the break between the conference and the banquet, I'd have my first political debate over two of the biggest issues of our day; capital punishment and forced military service! During our break, I sat down with my friend from church Marilyn, her son, my friend John, and Joe - a pro-life Republican who is thinking about running against a pro-abortion Republican Federal House Representative. Joe is an incredible pro-life Christian. He has incredible experience and knowledge on the pro-life cause through his teaching and counseling experience regarding abortion, the birth development process, etc. Capital Punishment - Biblical & Historical Grounds Where I disagreed with Joe and John is where they mistakenly equate "pro-life" with "anti-capital punishment." I had two concerns. First, was Joe and John's misunderstanding of the Bible. Second, was that Joe intends to run for a federal level position. Capital punishment is reserved for states only (state legislature, state executive branch, state courts). Federalizing capital punishment and then destroying it is both unconstitutional and un-Biblical. Joe pulled out a pocket card of the 10 Commandments and pointed to "Thou Shalt Not Kill." Joe said that he knows a murderer who has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and has even studied while on death row and has received a title from the Catholic Church. Joe and John said that the Catholic Church does not condone capital punishment. I replied that I was shocked; that in the most heinous evil cases, with murderers being unrepentant and swearing to murder and murder again, that the Catholic Church would want this murderer not to face his due punishment. John replied that the Pope has made an acception for a tiny percentage of offenders to receive capital punishment, but that the Pope's decision on this does not reflect the basic stand against capital punishment of the Catholic Church. Hmmmmm. Fishy. I replied that the proper translation of the Hebrew is "Thou shalt not murder," [see NKJV and NIV] and that the Bible specifically states the requirement for capital punishment (I will provide scripture later, below), and that eliminating capital punishment will create a pro-murder incentive for anyone living in poverty who would live longer in prison than on the streets. If someone doesn't have a roof over their head, is eating out of garbage, is near death, they would be able to murder someone and receive a bed, a roof over their head, meals every day, medical attention, and possibly even cable TV and a weight room (health club type facilities), all funded by forced taxation of the loved-ones of the person who was murdered! Evily horrible! I replied that my solution would not be a focus on after-murder education and witnessing to the murderer (although I'm ok with this while they're on death row), but my focus would be on educating our citizens on the evil of murder and the Biblical reasons behind capital punishment so that people don't murder in the first place. One of Joe's biggest arguments was that the appeal process and red tape involved with death row keeps murderers on death row, sometimes for 15+ years. My answer was, don't eliminate capital punishment because of this - fix the problem in the process! If would-be murderers think that they can live for decades on death row because of a faulty death row process, then they'll go ahead and murder. If would-be murderers know that they only have one appeal with a time limit of a few months max., then, I assured him, those individuals would surely think twice before murdering another human being! What does the Bible say about capital punishment? Here is an excerpt from a great article: Thou shalt kill? Some say that it is an Old Testament law that was done away in the New Testament. The original commandment to execute a murderer was given by God to Noah. It is a commandment that preceded the Law of Moses and has never been abrogated. God commanded, "Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God He made man" (Genesis 9:6). This was God's original authorization of human government, for it gave man the ultimate authority to execute a murderer. But the reason why God commands a murderer's life be taken is often missed. God says that if a man willfully takes another man's life, he has taken something that is created in the image of God. Only God has the right to terminate life that is in His image. Therefore the murderer owes his life to God and He commands human government to carry out the sentence. The Law of Moses included this command, "You shall not kill" (Exodus 20:13). The Hebrew verb "to kill" is qatal. It is in the hiphel stem, which is an intensive, active verb form meaning deliberate, violent action. So it means "to murder." This is recognized by the fact that God commanded a duly organized court to "kill the killer." The Law of Moses commanded, "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death" (Exodus 21:12). Jesus Christ gave new insight into this commandment in the Sermon on the Mount: "You have heard that the ancients were told, 'You shall not commit murder' and 'Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.' But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell" (Matthew 5:22). Far from canceling the Sixth Commandment, Jesus said that being angry with someone is grounds for being judged for murder before God, because God looks at the motives of the heart and not just our actions. The Bible authorized officers of the government to use deadly force to maintain order, "Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil" (Romans 13:1-4). Government authorities are authorized by God here to use the "sword" for the keeping of law and order. The "sword" is a symbol of deadly force in the Bible. You don't spank people with swords; you kill them. John and Joe think that forced military service should be legislated. They think that all United States citizens of a certain age (after high school graduation) should be forced to serve the U.S. military in some fashion. I disagreed. John asked me of my ethnic heritage, and I replied that my grandparents all immigrated here from Germany. John replied, "since you don't want to serve your country, go back there." Luckily for John, I am a man of self-restraint, for by insulting my patriotism, if I was less-restrained, would have left him on the floor, looking up at the ceiling, in a heartbeat. I replied that military drafts and forced military service are enslavement, they are involuntary servitude, a violation of Section 1 of the 13th Amendment of our United States Constitution, which states, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." I replied that, I am a member of the reserve (citizen) militia of the United States of America, and that I will gladly die fighting for my family and my country. The "unorganized" or reserve militia is a legal and lawful part of the armed forces of this nation. It is a military organization recognized by the Second Amendment of the Constitution; Title 10, Section 311 USC; the Dick Act of 1903; the National Defense Act of 1916; and affirmed by numerous court decisions. There is no ambiguity. The "unorganized" citizens militia is not the National Guard or the state "select" militia under the governor, or part of the "organized" armed forces of the federal government. It is literally the entire body of armed citizenry. Although the "unorganized" militia can be called up for lawful (Constitutional) purposes, it is not under the direct control of any state or political jurisdiction. It represents the authority and power of the People over the government and stands as the last defense of the citizens of this country against domestic tyrant. In, "The Patriot," should Mel Gibson have gone back to Britain because he was not a member of the United States Army? I think that I've made my point. The Honorable Dr. Ron Paul, U.S. Rep. of Texas, agrees with me: "Philosophically, conscription is not something that a free society, in our view, ought to abide, because it forces a person to go somewhere against their will.
