Glenda told me that she was inspired to write this new poem because she recently saw her friend's teen daughter's poster that "had some song lyrics on her wall and one of them caught my eye. It was called Plastic Faith and I have no idea who sings it but I know she likes Eminem. The song said things like, 'I won't be slave to a book' and 'you aren't supposed to judge but you're judging me' and 'you nailed yourself to a cross for a lost cause' and lots of vulger language. This is my response to that song, as written to the girl." A Closer Look Someone told you it was wrong somewhere, hidden in a song, you found your comfort in his cries and instantly believed his lies. Who wrote that song you hold on to? What will that singer do for you? His anti-Jesus, angry claim is a religion just the same. His bitter words say I'm a slave just listen to him rant and rave! Slave, he calls me, to a Book. I challenge you to take a look. The Book that he is singing of is not of bondage, but of love. The reason Christ was crucified, the reason that He bled and died, His only purpose on this earth to show you how much you are worth! He didn't buy us slavery but paid that price to set us FREE! +++ From Glenda: "Erich, Well, i'm taking the leap. I am self-publishing a book of poetry. They tell me the book will be done in about two months, then made available to purchase online. There is no need to take any off your website. Even though some of them are in the book, there are lots more that you don't have. I have 56 so far that I've gathered up from all my files, drawers, notebooks, etc!" This info is from the Motherwear Breastfeeding Guide at: http://www.motherwear.com/ How can anyone say that we are not designed by God?! Did you know that mothers who breastfeed naturally, whenever the baby is hungry, can't get pregnant, thus keeping the food flow for the baby (mothers who schedule feed can get pregnant; then they dry up because the new baby needs the food)? --- Pg. 9: NATURE’S CONTRACEPTIVE Exclusive breastfeeding can be used as one element of a family planning program. Its fertility-inhibiting effect can help you plan your next pregnancy at an appropriate time and with reasonable spacing. Globally, breastfeeding prevents more pregnancies than do all other forms of contraception put together.12 And the contraceptive protection requires no equipment other than a baby! If you are planning to use breastfeeding to augment your family planning, you need to understand the subject thoroughly. A good book on the topic is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control and Pregnancy Achievement" by Toni Weschler. For classes and information, contact the Couple to Couple League, P.O. Box 111184, Cincinnati, OH 45211, (513) 471-2000. --- Pg. 4: Milk varies from woman to woman, from week to week, and even from hour to hour. It comes in a variety of flavors as your diet varies. It is finely tuned to your baby’s appetite and nutritional needs. For example, mothers of premature babies produce milk containing more protein than that of mothers of full-term babies.1 If you breastfeed into your baby’s second and third years, you supply her with the spectrum of nutrients she needs as she grows into a toddler. --- Pg. 7 & 8 (excerpts): Protective substances Although most people are aware that human milk provides excellent nutrition, many are unaware of breastfeeding’s other health benefits for babies. Perhaps most significantly, human milk is like your baby’s first immunization. In diverse and remarkable ways, breastmilk protects your baby from disease until her immune system can function on its own. Many studies conducted since the introduction of infant formula have compared the disease resistance of the breastfed baby to that of the formula-fed baby. The conclusions are notable: Breastfeeding provides immunity to many viral diseases and respiratory infections and to some bacterial diseases. Formula-feeding does not. Not only is it a perfect food, but breastmilk also is actually a living substance. It contains active immune defense factors in even greater concentrations than those found in blood. Your milk contains millions of living cells per teaspoonful. Most of them are white blood cells that search out and attack invading disease agents. The antibodies that you pass to your baby through your milk protect him. Every swallow delivers a tiny army of cells that surround and destroy germs. The immune-system stimulation your breastfed infant receives is thought to protect him throughout his life. Adults who were breastfed are healthier. They have lower cholesterol levels and less chance of developing asthma, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. Breastfeeding also guards against food allergies, dermatitis, and certain chronic liver diseases, and it slows the development of abdominal disease. Allergic reactions are far less common among breastfed babies than among formula-fed babies. Food allergies are believed to begin when foreign molecules cross the walls of a baby’s intestine and enter the bloodstream. There they cause reactions ranging in severity from mild to life threatening. The breastfed baby has received elements from her mother’s colostrum and breastmilk that seal her intestinal surfaces. That means she can break down foreign proteins and molecules in her digestive tract rather than absorb them into her bloodstream. Breastmilk is good for your baby’s teeth, too. When nursing at the breast, swallowing naturally follows sucking, so breastmilk doesn’t pool in the mouth. A bottle-fed baby doesn’t suck the same way a nursling does; formula must accumulate in the bottle-fed baby’s mouth to trigger the swallowing reflex. This invites fermentation and bacterial growth, contributing to tooth decay. Breastfeeding provides the further benefit of optimum jaw, mouth, and speech development.5 Breastfed babies are healthier babies. One study found that formula-fed infants are hospitalized three times more often than breastfed infants in their first three months of life. A study cited in American Family Physician (the official journal of the American Academy of Family Physicians) found that 97 percent of bottle-fed babies are seen for illness in their first six months, whereas only 25 percent of breastfed babies need medical care.6 --- http://www.motherwear.com/ ==================== ==================== (3) Local Preservation of Freedom Activism Report On Monday, July 7, I spoke before my Borough Council, imploring them to pass a resolution againg the Patriot Act. Three newspapers covered the story. A PDF of one of the articles is here: http://users.netreach.net/InfoQuest/Patriot.pdf (Right-click on this link, select "Save target as", and save it to your computer. You can open it with Adobe Reader - free software). Although the ACLU is using such resolutions to promote themselves, see http://thenewamerican.com/tna/2003/01-27-2003/vo19no02_implausible_print.htm , I used it as an opportunity to educate my Borough Council on the unconstitutional Patriot Act. Here's my short speech: --- I implore you to join over 110 cities across the U.S.A., including Philadelphia, in formally resolving to protect the citizens of Perkasie from unconstitutional actions by federal and state law enforcement, the Executive Branch of the federal government, and any other organization acting under new powers granted by the USA Patriot Act or any other act or bureaucracy of any political entity. I will provide you with facts that have affected the past, present, and that could affect the future of the civil rights of the citizens of Perkasie. Past Please pick up your copy of The New American's October 7, 2002 magazine titled, "The Rising Police State" and turn to page 34, which is marked by a post-it. "From Republic to Reich" http://thenewamerican.com/tna/2002/10-07-2002/vo18no20.htm A Republican government, similar to ours, passed a Patriot Act titled, "("Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich" - translated - "Law for Removing the Distress of the People and Reich") to "Protect the Fatherland" from terrorism. Described as a "defensive measure against Communist attacks of violence," the decree announced that in light of the terrorist attack on the Reichstag, "restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the Press; on the rights of assembly and association; violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications; warrants for house searches; orders for confiscation as well as restrictions on property, are permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed." I am not calling our present administration a bunch of Nazis; however, the passing of the Patriot Act has enabled any future leader of our country to use the Patriot Act in the same way that Hitler used his Patriot Act! Present I will now read excerpts from an editorial that appeared in the Bucks County Intelligencer on June 24, 2003. Future Please pick up your copy of The New American's May 5, 2003 magazine titled, "Trading Freedom for Security" and turn to page 10, which is marked by a post-it. http://thenewamerican.com/focus/patriotact/index.htm This report details plans for a Patriot Act 2, which would not only make the unconstitutional Patriot Act 1 powers permanent, but add even more rights-revoking power to the federal government. Federal Congressional Representative Ron Paul of Texas stated, "Rather than effectively fight threats to our national security and safety, Patriot 2 would endanger the liberty of every American citizen and destroy what remains of America's constitutional republic. This proposal gives the Federal Government expanded power to snoop into the private affairs of American citizens without acquiring a warrant or meeting the constitutional standards of probable cause. However, perhaps the most disturbing portion of the draft is the provision that would give the government the power to revoke United States citizenship for engaging in political activity." What is in the future of Perkasie, Pennsylvania? The May 21, 2003 News-Herald reported these facts from Election official Betty Graver on the last Primary Election: There was a 20% voter turnout among the registered first ward voters. The second voting district saw a 17% voter turnout for the primary. There was a 15% voter turnout in the third ward. Many of you were not re-elected because we have an uneducated citizenry that does not even care to vote! I implore you to pass this resolution and hold education sessions on it for our citizens. You have the power to awaken the citizens of Perkasie! President Thomas Jefferson said, "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." --- ==================== ==================== (4) Supreme Court Impeachment E-List How can we impeach our Supreme Court Tyrants? http://mail.worldnetdaily.com/cgi-bin/subunsub.pl?list=impeach http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=33447 ==================== ==================== (5) Legislation ALERTS (U.S.A. & Pennsylvania) For a complete list of Legislation Alerts, go to: http://users.netreach.net/InfoQuest/government.htm#ALERTS A) U.S.A. B) Pennsylvania --- A) Say NO to Free Trade Agreements Status: "Congress is poised to give its nod to trade agreements with Chile and Singapore before the August recess." (CQ Today, July 8, 2003) Recommendation: Contact your representative and senators by email, phone, or fax and ask them to vote NO on the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Chile and Singapore. These FTAs would allow an unlimited number of "temporary" workers from Singapore and Chile to enter the United States. Furthermore, These FTAs are stepping-stones to the EU-style Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). The FTAA, scheduled for completion by 2005, is a major step toward creation of a borderless Western Hemisphere that would spell the end of our national sovereignty. Be sure to forward this email alert to your friends and others who are concerned about the loss of American jobs and national sovereignty. NEWS RELEASE from The Commonwealth Foundation Rendell Preschool Plan Would Destroy Existing Early Childhood Education System HARRISBURG-Today, The Commonwealth Foundation warned the General Assembly that Gov. Rendell's universal preschool proposal (Rep. Phyllis Mundy's HB1290 and Sen. Allyson Schwartz's SB 800) would "destroy the existing early childhood education system in Pennsylvania." "Today, there is no government-run preschool system in Pennsylvania. This responsibility has been faithfully and effectively taken up by private and religious schools across our state," said Matthew J. Brouillette, president of The Commonwealth Foundation. "But instead of recognizing the significant contribution of these schools, Gov. Rendell's proposal will drive them out of business." Under the Governor's plan, tax dollars would be sent directly from the state to institutions chosen by public school districts. "This will effectively exclude the vast majority of existing preschools in Pennsylvania," said Brouillette. "If the government extends itself into a sphere currently open to competition between many providers, the private, non-profit, and faith-based schools that have been loyally serving communities across the Commonwealth would be put at a severe competitive disadvantage, and many would be forced to close," said Brouillette. But Brouillette said that saddest irony is that the Governor's increased personal income taxes on the people working in and running the Commonwealth's existing preschools will help pay for the government shutdown of their schools. "If passed, the Governor's preschool plan will certainly be historic. Not because it is sound public policy, but because of how it will destroy an effective system of schools that currently doesn't cost taxpayers a penny," said Brouillette. "Unfortunately, the government's track record of failing to provide a high-quality, cost-effective K-12 education does not provide much hope that it can successfully run a new preschool school system," said Brouillette. "So when I say that the Governor's plan will likely be twice as expensive to taxpayers and half as effective for children, I'm being optimistic!"
